What does aesthetic dentistry involve?

Dental aesthetics is the discipline of dentistry that is responsible for treating all those alterations, malformations and pathologies of the oral and dental morphology with the aim of achieving a canon of beauty that fits in with today’s social ideal. Nowadays, having a beautiful smile is synonymous with health and social wellbeing. There are people who do not dare to smile because they do not want to show their teeth. At NS Dental Clinic we remedy this by designing your ideal smile.

Techniques such as orthodontics, dental whitening, aesthetic restorations or dental veneers have undergone an evolution oriented towards aesthetics in order to meet the current demands of the population.

AESTHETIC RESTORATIONS

It is the ideal treatment for restoring teeth with malformations, trauma and those that are too worn or stained. It allows us to achieve function, harmony and beauty.

DENTAL WHITENING

Tooth whitening is a cosmetic treatment that reduces the original colour of teeth by several shades, leaving them whiter and brighter. This procedure gives a healthy, clean and youthful oral appearance.

It is important and necessary to carry out a complete professional dental cleaning prior to whitening in order for it to work in its entirety. At NS Dental Clinic we offer high safety and quality whitening to achieve the best results.

DENTAL VENEERS

Ceramic veneers are thin layers of ultra-strong porcelain that provide a functional and conservative treatment supported by today’s adhesive dentistry. It avoids excessive reduction of tooth structure and is a more conservative treatment than full veneer crowns. At NS Dental Clinic, in addition to ceramic veneers, we also perform composite veneers in a single session.

FAQ's about dental aesthetics

The American Dental Association (ADA), after rigorous monitoring, states that there are no detrimental effects on teeth or health from prolonged use of whitening gels. The only disadvantage that may occur is tooth sensitivity during the first few days of treatment. However, not all patients can undergo whitening techniques. It is important to make a diagnostic appointment to assess whether the patient is suitable for teeth whitening.

Tooth whitening offers incredible results, the teeth will never return to the same colour as before the treatment, but they may lose a certain shade after a few years. Teeth are constantly exposed to substances that stain them over time, for example coffee, tobacco, wine, tea… Good daily oral hygiene is a fundamental part of maintaining the results of teeth whitening. In any case, maintenance teeth whitening can always be carried out.

Both types of veneers, ceramic/porcelain and composite, can achieve incredible aesthetic results in the right hands, but the practitioner’s choice of the best material and having clear treatment goals before treatment begins is critical to the success of the treatment. Composite veneers are cheaper than porcelain veneers, can be done in one session only and are repairable. The problem they have is their structural stability, they degrade over time, which is manifested by changes in colour. This does not happen with ceramic veneers.
